II Article Contest of the Austrian School Conference IMB – 2019
1. GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
1.1. This contest is an initiative of Instituto Mises Brasil and Centro Mackenzie de Liberdade Econômica. It aims to stimulate the intellectual production and to recognize the researches that have the Austrian Economic School as theoretical basis;
1.2. Only applicants over 18 are allowed to enroll themselves in the contest, regardless of their academic and professional background;
1.3. The articles will be of sole responsibility of their authors, not necessarily reflecting the opinion of the organizing institutions;
1.4. The act of submitting the article to this contest shows that the author is in agreement about the unlimited publication of their paper by Instituto Mises Brasil, resigning any remuneration in terms of copyright;
1.5. Depending on the quality and adequacy of the article, it may be part of a Special Issue, which consists of a selection of articles from this contest in the academic journal of Institute Mises Brazil – MISES: Interdisciplinary Journal of Philosophy, Law and Economics (e-ISSN 2594-9187).
2.1. The articles must be submitted to the platform of the Mises Journal (www.misesjournal.org.br) in eletronic format (in .doc or .docx file) using the standards described in topics 3, 4 and 5 from these guidelines;
2.2. The author must register on the platform www.misesjournal.org.br, and submit the article to the ConcursoCEA2019 section. The articles submitted in other sections will compose the journal’s normal evaluation flow and they will not be evaluated for the contest;
2.3. The article must be submitted up to April 10th, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. The platform will accept neither new submissions and editions nor switching papers after such deadline;
2.4. The result of the Qualifying Section of this contest will be released up to April 25th. The selected articles must be presented on May 9th during the VI Austrian School Conference. Time and place to be defined. The award ceremony will be held on May 11th during the event. Time and place to be defined.
3.1. The theme of the contest is free considering several areas, and it is mandatory for the article to have the Austrian School as its theoretical basis.
4. ABOUT THE ARTICLES
4.2. It will only be accepted submissions of unpublished articles, authored by the participant. They cannot be previously published in printed or electronic media, such as blogs, newspapers, academic or specialized journals, journals of great circulation, or, still, not disclosed by the Press or pending publication. Articles that do not meet these requirements will be disqualified.
4.3. All the submitted articles will be scanned by a plagiarism detector system. In order to avoid plagiarism, we suggest that the authors pay close attention to the recommendations as follows:
Paraphrase: use your own words to express the idea. Make sure not to literally copy more than two words in a same line of the text. In case of long sentences, we recommend the use of quotation marks;
Citation: not citing correctly may constitute plagiarism. When citing any kind of resource, use the sentences exactly the way it shows in the original text and in quotation marks. Block quotations, i.e. quotes with more than 40 words, should have the font size reduced and 1 cm indentation without the use of quotation marks;
Self-citation: in case the authors use their own ideas that were once published, they must be self-cited. Using released materials without proper reference means self-plagiarism;
Footnotes should: (1) be used to complement any information, in a concise way; (2) to show where the citations are.

The citation of an article and/or magazine article or bulletin in eletronic means, please, follow the example below:

4.6. Extension: each text must have 10 to 15 pages, A4 size;
4.7. Abstract and keywords will not be part of the text of the article, but they are required when filling in the on-line submission platform form;
4.8. Language: it will be accepted articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish;
4.9. Structure: The Arial Font, size 12 and simple line spacing, justified, must be used for the main body of the text;
4.10. You must use italics for expressions in other languages;
4.11. It is necessary to include a bibliography at the end of the text. Footnotes must not be used to include a full citation, following the rule in item 4.5;
4.12. The Evaluation Council will immediately reject the papers that do not follow the guidelines above (especially considering the number of pages);
4.13. It will not be accepted submissions of articles written by more than one author;
4.14. No information may exist in the text that identifies the author.
5.1. During the Qualifying Selection, all the received papers will be evaluated by the double blind review (peer blind evaluation) according to the following criteria:
a) Development of the article in a logical and well-structured ways;
b) Adequacy, density and update of the references used in the article;
c) Conclusion that properly responds to the problem of the text;
d) Citation of all the sources of information;
e) Mastery of the vernacular;
5.2. The selected articles must be presented during the VI Austrian School Conference from Mises Institute. The article will be disqualified in case there is no presentation, regardless of the grade it had gotten during the selection stage.
5.3. While presenting the articles, the evaluation will be according to the following criteria:
b) Clear presentation;
c) Do not exceed the time limit (maximum of 10 minutes);
d) Mastery of the content of the article;
e) Capacity of answering the questions from the examination board.
5.4. The final result will be based on the sum of the points achieved in the Qualifying Stage (maximum of 5 points) and the ones from the presentation (maximum of 5 as well);
5.5. There will not be, under any pretext, revision of the articles sent and the final result of the contest will not be appealed;
5.6. Under no circumstances, a tie will be validated between the submitted papers.
6.1. The awards for the best articles will be as follows:
1st place – R$ 5.000,00 (Five thousand reais);
2nd place – R$ 3.000,00 (Three thousand reais);
3rd place – R$ 2.000,00 (Two thousand reais).
6.2. The organization will not be responsible for costing the expenses of displacement and lodging the authors for neither their presentation in the last stage, nor for the award ceremony.
7. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
7.1. The Instituto Mises Brasil of this contest reserves the right to amend the rules as required and without prior notification.
